National Board

Structure

The National Board of PwDI is made up of an elected representative from each Network. They then become directors of People with Disabilities in Ireland Ltd. These positions are for a 3-year term, but a Network has the autonomy to replace their National Board member at any time, with just cause.

The National Board members elect a chairperson and a vice-chairperson, a membership sub-committee, a finance sub-committee and an appeals sub-committee.

Purpose

The main purpose of the National Board is to form the policies of the organisation, with each Network from around the country represented; we endeavour to make all policies reflect a national perspective. We also have duties of care as any directors of a company have, to ensure that the policies and procedures of the organisation are in keeping with our aims and objectives and that proper financial records are kept, etc.

The National Board is made up this way to allow the Networks to have direct influence in national policies,through their respective National Board member. It also allows for national policies to be conferred to the Networks in a quicker and more tangible manner.
