11 November 2003 - Disabled Drivers' Tax

Q 242. Mr Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the position in regard to the interdepartmental review of the 1994 disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' tax concessions; when it is expected to extend the current limits of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26109/03]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy):

As I indicated in replies to previous questions on this issue, an interdepartmental group was established to review the disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' tax concessions scheme. The group examined all aspects of the scheme including the qualifying medical criteria.
I have received the report of the interdepartmental review group on the scheme and it is being considered. Any recommendations contained in this report regarding the medical criteria and other conditions of the scheme will receive full consideration
