Ryanair Responds Positively on Wheelchairs

Following unsatisfactory responses received to enquiries made, in June, PwDI publicly called on Ryanair to clarify its policy in relation to its new luggage limit of 32 kilograms for one item. The issue was whether or not this new baggage limit applied to wheelchairs, since the lightest electric wheelchair or scooter weighs in at over 33 kilograms.

Ryanair has now confirmed that wheelchairs are not counted as baggage. All staff dealing with the public have now been briefed. In addition, the airline has agreed to meet PwDI to discuss any areas of the airline's website or procedures that PwDI would like to discuss. This meeting, warmly welcomed by PwDI, is likely to take place in the near future.
